UNC-CH Bell Tower Development

Adjacent to Kenan Football Stadium at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the University’s $212,000,000 Bell Tower Development project. This is a mixed use development project consisting of a major upgrade to the chilled water infrastructure system, a new research and classroom building for genomics, and a 750 space parking deck.
On site since January 2009, Morrison Engineers has been involved with shoring and foundation work for both the Chiller Plant and the Parking Deck structure.
The scope of work includes:
Design and installation of approximately 8500 sf of temporary excavation shoring system consisting of a vertical soldier pile system utilizing wales, grouted tiebacks and shotcrete facing
Design and installation 700 micropiles
